ARTIST BIO

Tom Reihart is a multimedia artist and maker, living and working in Tucson, Arizona. Reihart studied Sculpture and Expanded Media at the Cleveland Institute of Art and received his BFA in 2019. His work focuses on manipulating objects/images, from everyday life, to provoke a sense of shock and a feeling of unease. Through materials such as wax, latex, found objects, textiles, even acrylics and ink, he creates work that at first feels familiar and innocent, but with a closer look reveals itself to have a more troubling nature. Interested in the human condition, identity and abjection, he aims to highlight the normality of loss in everyday life and its role in human growth. Reihart exhibited in, MATERIAL|IMMATERIAL, as part of SculptureX 2019. He worked as a TA for the Cleveland Institute of Art's, pre-college sculpture course in 2018 and received the R&D Fellowship from SPACES Gallery, Cleveland (OH) in 2017.
